World Cup Fan Travel Starts with Local Connections

What exactly do we do at YSM?

World Cup Fan Travel is about more than attending a match.

The 2026 World Cup will bring millions of visitors to the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Many will see the matches, but the best memories often happen outside the stadium.

Signing up is completely free.

During our World Cup launch period, there are no matching fees and no commitment required.

Welcome fellow soccer fans! Thanks for checking out our site.

Your Sports Match helps traveling fans connect with local fans who know the city, the traditions, and the game-day experience.

Houston will host seven FIFA World Cup matches in 2026, including knockout-round games, and many visitors will be experiencing the city (and many others in the US!) for the first time. The 2026 World Cup is expected to create one of the largest travel events ever seen in North America.

Imagine visiting Houston from Germany and spending the day with a local sports fan instead of navigating the city alone.

What could a World Cup match look like?

• A visitor from Germany spends the day with a Houston sports fan, visits Buc-ee’s for the first time, grabs Texas barbecue, and attends a World Cup match.

• A soccer fan from Japan gets local recommendations for restaurants, transportation, and attractions before kickoff.

• A Houston resident welcomes visiting fans, shares their favorite game-day traditions, and helps visitors experience the city like a local.

No tour guides. No commercial packages. Just sports fans helping sports fans.

I built Your Sports Match long before attending a soccer match in Hamburg, Germany. The idea actually came to me years earlier while traveling to visit baseball stadiums around the country.

Hamburg reminded me why the concept matters. Sports bring people together, but some of the best travel memories happen away from the stadium — exploring a new city, meeting fellow sports fans, and experiencing a place through a local perspective.

Your Sports Match is a new concept we are pleased to launch. We’d love your feedback. As I was working on my chase to see all MLB baseball stadiums, and have basically loved sports my entire life, I put those concepts together — a concept almost like an “Exchange Student Program” for sports fans. Right now, the United States is feeling firsthand excitement for the World Cup, for the first time since 1994.

The idea? Match sports fans across the nation (and the world!), so someone has a sports best friend in each town. That makes checking off bucket list experiences and stadiums easier — and more meaningful. It doesn’t have to be soccer or baseball. Ever dreamed of a big SEC football game on a Saturday night, or doing the Lambeau Leap? My vision was always that this would be reciprocal. Would you want to show off your home park or city to visitors?

Feel free to explore the site. Here are a few blog (The Fan’s Journey) highlights, with links:

This video helps explain it all. It’s featured on my main page, and I wanted to share it again here.

Thanks again for checking out Your Sports Match. We’re just getting started, and we’d love for you to be part of our early community — especially if you’re here for the World Cup, chasing all 30 MLB ballparks, or seeing a new college football stadium this fall. German Freddy (and many others!) and their journeys may be an early example of what World Cup fan travel could look like in 2026 and the future.

Our goal is simple: help real fans connect for authentic, local game-day experiences. Whether you’re traveling to a new stadium or want to welcome visiting fans to your city or home stadium, YSM was built with you in mind.
